Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Brain Pop videos have proven to provide excellent background knowledge of events in history that are both educational and engaging to students. We also have many students new to this country learning English and the ELL videos helped them hear, see, and use the language in an motivating way. I have used these videos in the past during Covid when the subscriptions were free to educators, but now unfortunately our school can no longer provide this much beloved and useful service.

This year my amazing fifth grade will be reading texts that focus on what human rights are, how they can be threatened, and what they can do to support universal human rights.

Brain Pop has wonderful videos on subjects that will enhance readings, research, and discussions. Some of the videos that we would use involve immigration, revolutions, colonization, laws that protect human rights and people who have fought and made a difference to many people's rights as humans. Please help continue to make this service available for these future leaders of tomorrow.
