Help me give my students a colorful and print-rich learning environment to access Math and Science. A color printer in the classroom will make the visual lessons come to life.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are wonderful bilingual students in a Two-Way Dual Immersion class. Some of them are English language learners and others are Spanish language learners. They have an intense love of learning, especially in the areas of Math and Science. They love solving problems and coming up with theories about why things are the way that they are. Critical thinking definitely is a must in my classroom.
We learn in two languages and distinguish the languages by color coding, therefore we definitely need a color printer to bring to life all that they are learning.
We use a lot of visuals of color images to access vocabulary. English vocabulary words are in blue and Spanish vocabulary words are in Red.
Science has a lot of vocabulary to learn. Fortunately, Science has a lot of cognates which means words in English and Spanish look similar. Providing a colorful means to learn will make learning fun and accessible to all my students.
