Make School Fun Again...Learning Math by playing Math Games
Help me give my students hands-on experience with mathematics by helping me to purchase engaging math centers where students can use hands on manipulatives instead of always working with a pencil and paper to promote math skills.

My Project
It's no secret that young children learn best through hands-on activities and play. Learning when you are learning English as a second language is hard enough. The school provides books but not learning centers. My young children who our second language learner are forced to do pencil and paper per activities all day. There is no games or center activities for them to interact with.
Learning math through play is important because it allows children to engage with mathematical concepts in a fun and natural way, fostering a positive attitude towards math, building a strong foundation through hands-on exploration, encouraging critical thinking, and developing a deeper understanding of abstract concepts by making them tangible through play-based activities; essentially, it makes learning math enjoyable and promotes deeper learning beyond rote memorization.
Having engaging math center games students can play independently will give me the time I need to meet with focus groups without students losing interest in what they're doing. If they're having fun and learning, they are more inclined to be cooperative instead of disruptive while working independently.
I don't have any assistance in my class and I teach 43 students math. Over 80% of my student population come from poor families and speak English as a second language. When independent work time is not engaging and it's just more pencil and paper activities, students lose interest therefore they are not learning. Fun math games will keep them interested and engaged. Not only that, The math games would encourage conversation and language develop with my second language learners.
