Help me give my students stampers, cutters, and white boards to use in centers and be successful in learning their letters, sight words, and much more!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a Title I school in the school district of Philadelphia. We have approximately 1,300 students, all of our students are eligible to receive free lunch.
My classroom is filled with diversity!
My students come from many different socioeconomic backgrounds, including English Language Learners, low-income homes, and few learning experiences outside of their neighborhood.
My students are amazing because they are smart, hard-working, and adaptable.
They all aspire big dreams and will work hard to reach the goals that they set. They are positive and have a "ready to learn" attitude that is contagious. Every student is valued and appreciated for their contributions of unique talents, knowledge, and skills that they bring to our classroom.
My Project
The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in reading centers and math. Students come to the rug with whiteboards for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work.
The use of letter stamps/pads and cutters will provide my students with engaging and hands on tools to become successful in word work and writing centers.
My students are very eager to learn through hands-on resources in the class. Many students do not have hands-on learning tools at home, therefore they will be very excited to see more resources in our classroom to use. These learning materials will allow me to work with my struggling students, while other students are in centers with hands-on manipulatives. The hands-on activities will help students with their motor skills and coordination. With the manipulatives, my students can be actively engaged during center time.
