My students need a classroom laptop and a case to better access multimedia components of the classroom.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Living in the poorest congressional district in the United States is obviously not the easiest thing. While life outside of our school may not always be carefree and easy-going, my students still deserve every aspect of a classroom that most other American students have grown accustomed to.
While my students aren't as fortunate as many other students in our state, they show tenacity and determination at school on a regular basis.
Many of them have a chance to become first-generation college graduates (and even high-school graduates) in their families by working hard at our school. Despite certain hurdles in their education and personal growth, they have shown to be upstanding young adults and they deserve the best. Funding is limited this year and the school doesn't have the opportunity to provide as many resources, especially multimedia resources, as they have in the past. Our students are very technologically advanced and they benefit from various means of representation within the classroom.
My Project
Unfortunately our school is unable to update their technology this year, which as you may know is necessary in the ever-changing high-tech universe. Aging computers aren't capable of accessing all websites and programs, including those that show videos. As students with special needs, multimedia components of a computer and the Internet have proven to be extremely helpful within their classes. The students love to watch educational videos, do on-line research, and play educational games to help them better understand certain concepts. Without a classroom computer to access such activities, the students will be missing out on key components that previous students have been privy to.
Some the students have already shown high-interest in computer activities within these first few days of the new school year and we have had multiple roadblocks in accessing them.
These activities help to maintain their attention and have proven to be effective in helping students understand new concepts. It would be extremely regrettable if this means of success is no longer available to all of the students. A new computer would help us continue on our path to success, without a doubt!
