My Students

"I believe children are the future. Teach them well and let them lead the way." These are words from a popular song and a strong belief that I hold as a teacher.

Equity for all!

My students are full of potential. They are bright, shining beacons of light. I am asking for assistance so that they can glow like the stars that they are.

Fortunately for the students in my class, envisioning the future is something we think of and talk about often. Because their daily existence is so challenging, I have them focus on their bright and delightful futures!

I teach in a low socio-economic area at a Title I school where ninety-nine percent of the population receives free breakfast and lunch. On most days, the heartiest and healthiest meals that the students receive are what they eat at school. It isn't unusual for the students in my class to stockpile food in their book bags to take home to have something to eat later that day.

Despite the harsh circumstances and backdrops of their lives, the students come to school daily with smiles on their faces.

My Project

My students need a place to store and easily locate the learning tools they use every day. These pencil cases will be used to house the children's pencils, erasers, crayons, and markers. The photo box will store their sight words, and labels will be used to personalize everything for my students.

My students live in an area of the country that has been severely affected by the Corona Virus. Most of these children’s parents are essential workers who were laid off during the pandemic. So, buying basic supplies for their child is near impossible. This is why I need your help.

There is so much shame in poverty. I want these boys and girls to have their own individualized pencil case that they can feel proud of. Please help me make this a reality for these little ones. Thank you.
