This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Throughout the year students are taught "the writing process" and how to get their personal experiences onto paper. What I am trying to do for my students is make their writing meaningful to them. I am trying to have them make books from their own writing pieces and a binding machine would help with that.
Every student loves telling stories about themselves and their lives.
What happens once you've told the story is it is forgotten. My students need to feel that they have not been forgotten and having them make actual books using their adventures and journeys would keep them interested and craving more.
My Project
A template for making a book would help all of the students begin to focus their ideas and try to talk about something important to them. This will make the books meaningful. Rereading a book created by themselves or by an author (classmate) that they are familiar with will enhance their experience.
My students need meaningful writing experiences and a book binding machine, 2 sets of book templates and 2 sets of bindings will help them do so.
Each student deserves to become a published author and create an actual bound book.
