it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The environment needs our help! Students of today's world are going to be amazingly more technology savvy and environmentally aware that previous generations. Together- that can make for an exciting time in the world of technology and in the classroom.
By funding this proposal, you are going to simultaneously help students become more aware of the environment, add technology to the classroom, and support students as they prepare for college.
I teach chemistry in a high poverty area. My students come from very challenging backgrounds- where they know more people in gangs and in jail than in college. I am pushing my classroom to be the model 21st century classroom full of technology so that my students can compete with those from wealthier areas and be the first in their community to go to college.
My Project
Preparing students to have the skills necessary for college level work takes a lot of paper! That's not good for the environment. It is for this reason that I already requested and received a Mimio interactive whiteboard for my classroom.
We need Mimio stylus pens in various colors, a receiver replacement, a virtual ink pointing device and dry erase markers so we can use our Mimio interactive whiteboard that was donated to our classroom. The students find it interesting and engaging; I like how much paper I've been able to save. Less paper needed means we can cut down less trees which means we can preserve more ecosystems which means the animals...well you get the idea.
The accessories requested will help make my mimio interactive whiteboard wireless-no cords to trip over! Also, the extra pens will allow us to write in a variety of colors- all saved to my laptop and uploaded to the school website. Students can review their notes online if they were absent or to help review for an upcoming test. as students move into the collegiate level this will become regular practice and they will be prepared.
