My Students

I have the honor of teaching the most amazing students at the most amazing school. We are a non-profit, Title I, arts integrated and project based. Our school operates primarily on an ACCESS Grant. The objective of this grant is to give children from disadvantaged communities, children with disabilities, and children who speak English as a second language the opportunity to gain "access" to an education they would normally not receive.

I am an interventionist, I specialize in assisting students who are struggling reach their full potential to achieve academic success.

This can be difficult as we are a non-profit Title I school. Funding is very minimal, and the majority of our families are from impoverished communities and are not financially able to donate supplies. This leaves teachers in a position to purchase materials and resources we desperately need.

These kids come in everyday ready to learn with smiles on their faces. Some did not have dinner the night before or breakfast that morning, yet they come in eager to learn not matter the circumstances. Our school culture focusses on diversity and inclusion for all.

My Project

We are a second year non-profit, Title I, fully arts integrated school. We recently moved into a new building and had no room to facilitate small groups and one-on-one interventions for our at-risk kiddos.

Volunteers in our community came together to turn a storage area into a classroom space for our MTSS/Interventions Team.

Unfortunately, most of our budget was depleted on building materials. We were left to buy most of our materials and resources out of pocket.

Teachers spend an enormous amount in all schools, but our teachers go above and beyond. We have many students who would not have had holiday gifts if not for our teachers and staffs donating gifts. I myself take our students photos in the fall and spring. I donate half of those proceeds back to our school. We are hoping to find someone out there who loves kids as much as we do. We know the playing field is not level for all children, and we want a holistic experience filled with love and equity for every student!
