Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from diverse backgrounds; some of them come with physical and emotional issues. About 96% of the students at my campus receive free lunch. We are a Hispanic dominant population, with English as a second language. We are a leader in me school, and we believe every student has a little leader inside of them.

Hurricane Harvey brought devastation to our city, and some of these scholars are slowly getting back to normal.

Our campus faces a lot of challenges this school year, and I would love to have more hands on activities for my little scientists. Shearn is located in the heart of a beautiful community. I would love to bring this community together.

My Project

My scholars need a way to be creative and inspiring a maker space provides: hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, build and invent as they deeply engage in science, engineering and tinkering. I would love to bring this amazing experience to my Science lab.

I choose an interactive lego wall to start out my makers space; this will give my scholars something to look forward to in the begin of school, my early bird finishers, and my after school tutoring all stars.

My scholars need other ways to let out their frustrations, a maker space is an amazing outlet. I will be creating an interactive wall with the Lego baseboards, where students can use the their creativity to build the Ev3 space challenge, and the community starter set. My scholars will be able to use their creativity, share ideas, create as a team, solo work, and independent learning. I want my students to have real life experience in leaning outside of the technology world. By building with their hand it will be much more meaningful.
