This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
During COVID 19, many students fell behind in academics. Teaching math during virtual learning was not only challenging for me as a teacher but for my students as well. I would plan wonderful lessons and drop off supplies at their homes, but when it came time to use the supplies during math, there were none. My students were so happy to see me on the computer screen, so I made the best lessons possible, which always ended with them, engaging to the best of their abilities and being happy. I work at a Title I school that has limited furniture and supplies for my students. Most of my math materials are discarded items from teachers that have retired or been bought by me from the thrift store.
Having a Store & Display Center is a teacher’s organizational dream.
The students will know exactly where to find their math materials in the classroom. They will have more opportunities to work problems on the board and then have a variety of new math materials to practice what they have learned. These requested math materials will allow my students to learn at their appropriate skill levels and abilities while having fun. The Display Cart will provide the confidence that some students need to participate and engage in activities. What other way to do so, but to have my students say “Make Math Marvelous for Me”. Using the Display Teaching Cart in a small group or a large group setting will be ideal. Help me give my special needs students hands-on math material that will visually help them retain what they are learning by actually doing.
