My students need manipulatives, math games, and flexible seating options to help them learn comfortably, engage and stay motivated to stay on task. These resources help with real world connections and make learning fun.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a 4th grade Math Teacher at at a Title 1, Achieve 180 campus in Houston, TX that has been recently affected by Hurricane Harvey. All of my students are labeled economically disadvantaged and over half are considered refugees. 100% of the students in my class receive free or reduced lunch. My students are faced with challenges both in and out the classroom. Despite these challenges, we are looking forward to learning while having fun.
My students love math!!!
These students have little to no educational resources at home and parents are not involved. However, my students have committed to come to school everyday to get the tools they need to be successful in life. Our goal this year is to have an open mindset. For us this means, we will overcome previous math challenges and find ways to connect our learning with the real world and make learning fun and meaningful.
My Project
The six chromebooks will be used daily to incorporate a technology station as required by the district. Flexible seating options are available daily on a first come first serve basis. The goal is to have options for every student. The flexible seating allows students to learn comfortably. Math games and manipulative will be used as stations to add concrete aid as well as real world connections. It is important for students to see how learning the math relates to the real world.
Donations to our projects ensures students have the resources needed to make learning fun and meaningful.
When learning is fun, classroom management is a breeze and students are active in the learning. Help me give these students and unforgettable 4th grade experience.
