My Project

What I love most about my Deaf and hard-of-hearing (DHH) students is their enthusiasm, creativity, and eagerness to learn, especially when they are given opportunities for hands-on and visual exploration. They come from diverse backgrounds, each with unique learning needs, and they engage with content in powerful, individual ways. They bring so much joy into the classroom, especially when they feel seen, supported, and understood. Their ability to communicate and connect in different ways is what makes them so special, and it’s why I work hard to create a learning environment that supports all learners.

My goal for this project is to create a highly visual, interactive, and accessible classroom that meets the needs of my DHH students.

I want to give them tools that help them feel confident and excited about learning. The items I have selected, like magnetic fraction tiles, number lines, and math charts, allow students to physically interact with math concepts, making abstract ideas more concrete and meaningful. Dry-erase multiplication boards and colorful math posters provide ongoing visual reinforcement, while fidget tools help with focus and sensory regulation.

These resources will make a real difference in how my students engage with learning. Multiplication games and puzzles offer non-verbal ways to build fluency and promote collaboration, while 3D geometric shapes bring math to life. Paint markers give students opportunities to express their understanding through art, which is especially valuable for visual learners. With these tools, my students will have the support they need to succeed, feel empowered, and truly shine in the classroom.
