This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Independent reading is one of the school’s learning objectives especially when making cross cutting concepts in all subjects areas. For each assignment our students are expected to be engaged in some area of reading a digital printed material through listening from a device and /or verbally participating in class with the printed material in the classroom.
Therefore when our students are engaged with digital reading material, it becomes a problem when they are listening at their various paces.
For example, listening to a video or digital reading a text in Google Classroom without a headphone, it is distracting for others who have focusing issues. Therefore, providing each student the opportunity to independently engage with their material through this piece of technology ( a headphone) will be most beneficial.
Using the headphones for independent practice, allows them to become more engaged in more focused and enhance better concentration in these listening assignments. By having the headphones, external noises will be minimized resulting in better responses to their work.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focusing skills, you will ultimately help to increase their academic learning and listening skills, increase literacy and their desire to learn. These headphone will provide service to the entire 7th grade students, especially our students with disabilities, who are most negatively affected with external noises.
