My Students

My students hail from all over San Francisco and all over the world! From newcomers stepping into a US public school for the first time, to students whose families have lived in SROs in Chinatown for generations, our students bring unique perspectives and rich histories that inform the way they think and interact in math class.

My students are resilient and brilliant thinkers.

They make connections between what we're learning about coordinate geometry and ratios to landscaping at our local library and playground. They work on challenging math puzzles during lunch, just for the joy of figuring out the answer. They draw on each other's ideas, and debate each other fiercely and respectfully.

My students love to learn, and they deserve a high quality education in a safe, welcoming classroom to strengthen their mathematical problem solving and critical thinking skills.

My Project

All of these supplies will further my students' abilities to make deep mathematical connections and communicate effectively with each other.

Here's how each of the supplies will be used:

Students will construct their own math textbooks from the composition books by piecing together notes, graphic organizers, and other math activities in one organized spot.

Every student will have their own dry erase board available to them whenever they need to work out a problem or show their work to a neighbor or group with the dry erase pocket sleeves. Additionally, we'll use the sleeves to make fun math puzzles reusable among five different class periods!

Students can present their work to the class by projecting their work on the screen from anywhere in the classroom, then use the Apple pen for error analysis and to more clearly explain their work.

Students can use the silent pencil sharpeners keep their pencils working while others are talking so that nobody's learning is interrupted.
