Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are great. They love learning and they enjoy coming to school. My students are mostly immigrants or children of immigrants. Many are English language learners (ELLs). Nearly all students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch because their family's household incomes are below the poverty line.
My school is a large, crowded school, in a very large urban district.
This past year, we have had a lot of budget cuts. Fourteen staff members from our school were cut. Most of our budget has been used to keep the teachers and staff that we do have. Even though the school has limited resources, students have some of the highest test scores in the area.
My Project
Help us make digital learning fun with this wonderful tech tool. Nearpod is an online learning platform that helps make virtual classes interactive for students. The platform includes amazing features such as polling, matching games, collaborative bulletin boards, interactive video features, and educational avatar races. It can be easily integrated into the Google platform that my school will be using.
With Nearpod, I can make sure all my students are engaged and understanding what I am teaching.
It can be difficult to check for understanding in a virtual environment. Nearpod will give me constant feedback so I can make adjustments to my teaching and help all students be successful. Thank you for believing in my students as much as I do!
