My Project
My role is supporting multilingual students who both learn academic English and have access to grade level curriculum. Since the pandemic, we have seen a large influx of newcomer students arriving. Many are learning English for the first time and some are arriving with interrupted education and gaps in their understandings. These supplies will help to make the learning accessible and fill in/support student's gaps in understanding. This will help them to succeed in the classroom.
Learning at the high school level can be challenging as it is often abstract concepts.
Students can access the curriculum easier when they have the materials and opportunities to make the concepts more concrete through the use of manipulatives and projects. These materials will support incorporating more accessible learning opportunities into the classroom.
