Make Learning Colorful!

My students need a color printer for the classroom so that vocabulary can be vibrant and enriched for all of the lessons. Vocabulary is essential in learning for ESL students and special education students.

My Students

Our ICT class is made up of 25 second graders. All 25 students are ESL students with 2 being non-English speakers. Nine students have IEPs as well. They are eager, well behaved students who love to be engaged in learning.

Most students in this class are bilingual, speaking either Chinese or Spanish as well as English as their second language.

These students benefit from pictures in every lesson as well as color around the classroom to make it as exciting as can be!

My Project

In our classroom, all lessons are taught on the Interactive Smart Board, where lessons are in color. However, in small groups, we only have pictures in black and white which makes in difficult for students to make a strong connection to learning. A color printer will help make the classroom environment welcoming and our lessons exciting! Students with disabilities will also benefit from this printer as individual work can be printed in color to meet their needs. These students can be more engaged in learning when vocabulary and scaffolds are in color. Scaffolding is a major part of their learning process and when these are printed in color, it's more realistic and the content is more obtainable.
