Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a school counselor in a middle school with approximately nine hundred students. My school is located in the inner city, with students that mostly come from low, socio-economic living conditions. About ninety-five percent of our students are on free or reduced-price lunch. We believe that our students are capable of achieving great things with support from our staff, community partners and parents.
As a counselor, I ensure the social, emotional and academic needs of students are met while providing support to parents, teachers, and staff.
I provide services to my students such as individual counseling, group counseling, academic planning, classroom guidance and career interest preparation. I also provide staff development presentations and parent workshops.
My Project
The Cricut Joy will be used to brighten up the learning environment by creating colorful and inviting bulletin boards, door decorations and to personalize items that will be used for incentives for students. Incentive items like journals, water bottles, and notebooks could be used at home as well as at school. The Cricut Joy will be a tool that provides a resource for me to do something fun things like making hallway decorations, bulletin boards and make personalized items like notebooks, water bottles, keychains and other items to incentivize students.
