This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located the second smallest city in Los Angeles County. Our elementary school is 552 students strong. We have 1 percent African American, and 98 percent Latinos. We have a 90 percent socioeconomically disadvantaged population and 4 percent foster youth. 100% of our students get free lunch.

Despite the many challenges they face, my students arrive every morning full of life, ready to learn, and excited to get started on our day.

I do my best to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My Project

Every year, I struggle with keeping my student's pencils nice and sharpened. We have very unreliable sharpeners in our classroom. Sometimes students bring their own sharpeners and it makes things worse because they make a mess and they don't always share. My plan is to have two sharpeners that can be at either end of the classroom available to my students as needed.

Having two electric Sharpeners in my classroom would be ideal!

It would allow me to provide freshly newly sharpened pencils to my students on a daily bases.It would allow my students for focus on their actual work instead of spending so much time sharpening pencils.

Like most teachers, I spend a lot of money on my students and my classroom. Last year I found myself going through packs and packs of pencils because I couldn't always get them sharpened. Your donation would really help my class with basic needs. Im hoping these sharpeners will help us go through less packs of pencils.
