My Students
Hello! I am a teacher at a Title I school, that has a unique program for kids with disabilities. This year, I transferred from the self-contained classroom back into the general education classroom (at the same school) and noticed that the needs may be different, but my students still have many struggles to overcome in order to be successful!
My students have a wide variety of skills we are working on, one, in particular, is the ability to do their math facts and read fluently.
This is a group of students who are academically at several different levels, yet are all in the same classroom (which is typical of most classrooms, today). Meeting all of the needs of my students, while continuing on with the curriculum is hard for several of my kids. My students that need to be challenged are left to do more independent work, and my struggling students are provided with more one-on-one attention that they need to be successful! I am hoping to even the playing field and have the ability to meet more of my students' needs.
My Project
As a Title 1 school, we struggle to provide some of the basic needs of our students and the burden tends to fall on the teachers to make up the cost. Paper is the biggest short coming we have as a school. Providing copy paper will allow my students to be able to learn hands-on while displaying what their gaining on paper.
Paper is very useful in projects and work; but bright paper makes it more engaging to look at and draws the students in to do their very best work.
My students love when I take out the colorful paper and light up when they are able to choose their color for activities. I can't afford to provide more this year, as I've already purchased several reams of colorful paper. My kiddos are so much more involved and it will be very helpful to have the copy paper and card stock in order to maximize my students' learning.
