My Students

I truly believe learning to love to read can make a huge difference in the future of our children.
My students are a diverse group: some are speaking English as a second language, some have learning disabilities, and others are achieving beyond grade level expectations. More than 94% of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Even with the obstacles they face, they are a motivated group of kids with hearts of gold.
My Project
My students have a class store where they work hard to earn class money to purchase items. I would love to have a Cricut in the classroom so we can design items to sell using our class money. Having a classroom store is a great way to teach financial literacy. We need the Cricut, heat press, vinyl, and contact paper to let us create items for the classroom store.
Being able to help my students learn about financial literacy through running a shop and learning about inventory, profit/loss, etc., has been so rewarding.
I know my students are learning beyond the text book and learning life skills that will help them be successful citizens. These items will allow me to expand our classroom business and teach all of these important skills.
