Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We are a Title 1 school with a large population of refugee students. Many of these students have no access to technology until they come to school. We do a daily morning message over the loudspeaker to promote social-emotional learning (SEL) for the entire student body. Topics highlighted include responsibility, compassion, gratitude, and important historical figures. With the addition of a screen bundle and iPad, our students will expand their knowledge base by creating a learning environment that will provide them with skills for college and career readiness. These materials will help them be better prepared for their future endeavors by giving them opportunities to enhance their public speaking, technology, and media literacy skills. In addition to our morning announcements, my 5th-grade students can use these tools to bring their research projects and book reports to life through an interactive video platform. Please help support our students to be the creative and innovative thinkers of tomorrow.
