Make History Come to Life

Help me give my students 6 iPad's for recording classwork in Social Studies. They create newscasts, tell stories, make a vlog or more based on the topic we are studying.

My Project

As I get older, I want to shy away more and more from technology because I don't want to 'have to learn it myself', when, in reality, I need to do the opposite. I have been challenging myself so far by learning to use our 3D printer with and for our students. I realize, that in the world in which we live, technology is a must for students. Therefore, I am continuing to branch out by adding iPad's to my classroom to allow students to record a vlog, a story, a newscast and more to bring history to life. I want them to be interested in their topic while also integrating the use of technology. I truly want to dive into this because I know the students will absolutely enjoy these activities. We have one class worth of iPads for our entire building and trying to borrow them to use is so difficult. The timing is never right because someone else is using them due to the large number of classes in our school and the limited supply. There are also four technology classes taught using them so they are completely off limits during those times of the day. My hope is that with 6 iPads, I will be able to group kids together so everyone will be able to use them! The iPads will be used not only in my core Social Studies classes, but I can also integrate them into my class too where I am teaching STEM; therefore, they will be able to be used extensively. I know that the kids will absolutely be thrilled to use them while learning in a fun way about our world and its rich history. Anytime technology is an option for the kids, they will choose that over anything else.
