Make History Come Alive in DC and See Colleges, Too!
Help me give my students a trip to see the important sites in Washington DC that relate to U.S. History and two college visits so they can prepare for college application season!

My Students
My students come from all over Brooklyn. 72% of our students are low-income (qualify for free lunch) and about 20% have a special-education plan.
We try to offer enrichment opportunities to all of our students, regardless off their ability to pay.
Being inclusive in what we do helps our students feel a sense of belonging. Students who feel they are part of the school community tend to perform better in school and outside of school.
Our school prides itself on providing co-teachers in many classes in order to maximize support for all students. We make efforts to be more integrated than most NYC public schools, and we believe in the philosophy that students will do well if they can. If they are not succeeding in some way, there must be some problem or issue that needs to be resolved and we work with the student to find out what that is.
My Project
This year, we hope to bring the as many 11th grade students as we can on an overnight trip to Washington, D.C. Due to the expense of this trip, many of our students cannot afford to pay their full share.
To make the trip affordable for every student, we’re asking for your support.
On the trip, students will visit some of the museums and sites of our federal government and tour Howard and George Washington Universities.
All of our students have started their college selection process and visiting schools is a great opportunity for them. Many are not able to travel to visit schools on their own.
Additionally, they are studying U.S. History and have spent time thinking and talking about constitutional rights. Being in and around the places they are studying has real meaning for them.
More than half of students from low‑income households
