This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Most of my students are freshmen in my honors and college prep biology sections, meaning they are taking their first science class in high school. I love that my students come in with a clean slate. It is my job to engage them and get them excited about the next four years (and beyond) of science. To do so, I like to create hands-on activities for my students to engage in scientific learning.

The jumpers will excite students about graphing, an otherwise tedious and monotonous task, in a low-stakes and meaningful way.

The colored pencils and markers help students who may be more artistically inclined to participate in the learning. Similarly, these art supplies will allow all students to express themselves and create an identity in the STEM environment
