Make Every Day a Quiet, Calm Earth Day for First Graders
My students need headphones to hear individualized learning research and programs for Earth Day.

My Students
I teach a fabulous group of first graders who are inspiring, motivating, and fun to teach. They are the future readers, writers, mathematicians, computer analysts, engineers, artists, and musicians of the world.
I teach in a large, diverse, K-8 high poverty school in an urban area of Philadelphia that experiences crime.
Our school receives Title I funding and the entire school is eligible for free breakfast and lunch. The students who come to school eager to learn are from various living situations such as single parents, foster homes, homeless shelters, or extended family living. I am dedicated to meeting their needs daily, along with building their self-esteem and confidence.
My Project
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.” -Dr. Seuss.
We are requesting headphones so that the students can focus on their research about Mother Earth, recycling concepts, and their learning intervention programs.
Some of my students have brought their own headphones to school. But I always have extra pairs for those that can't buy their own. I have tried many different headphones and they break. I chose this style because they have a tangle-free cord and they have a warranty in case they break. I am hoping that these will last for many years to come. The project is for several headphones so that students can have a sanitary, clean pair and learn responsibility for taking care of them.
Headphones will tremendously impact my current and future students. Let's empower them through scientific literacy. 2, 4, 6, 8: we want to learn to read and cannot wait! “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” -Dr. Seuss.
