My Students

My students are 21st century students. They are learning to become problem solvers and thinkers.

Our middle school is moving towards classrooms that are student centered instead of teacher centered, meaning students guide the learning, not teachers.

They just become facilitators.

Our school is located in an inner city, and we have a diverse population that we are trying to reach. We have students who come from wealthy homes to students that come from very low income. It is quite a challenge to reach them all.

My Project

In today's world, students are working towards jobs that have not even been created yet. It is our job to prepare them for these jobs by allowing them to create and explore various technologies.

Creating, coding, and exploring with Makey Makey will foster student's creativity and computational thinking skills.

Students will be able to use ordinary objects such as pennies, bananas, artwork, etc. and make them come to life

One project we plan to complete is students will create a guitar in art class and then we will code the guitars to actually play music using the Makey Makey kits.
