Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
Many students in my classroom come in saying they have challenges due to language and financial barriers.
Our school is nestled in the heart of Van Nuys, California. We are a Title 1 school with an extremely high English learner population. My students are wonderful, inquisitive, creative children with tons of potential. They also experience barriers such as poverty, gang violence, immigration fears, things no child should have to deal with.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies to ensure we meet the needs of each child! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each day.
My Project
A new computer will allow me to open doors for my students, doors they never even knew existed!
I am asking for a new computer to use in the classroom.
Right now I can't access and play content related videos, access websites that require heightened levels of memory, etc. Seeing, rather than hearing about makes the content real. With the right computer, the world opens for my kids! Using this computer will allow me to show children events in history, how the world works, real-life examples of what they are learning. Seeing is a stronger teaching tool than merely imagining!
