This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a public school teacher on a mission to make combat robotics and CAD part of the school robotics curriculum. Combat robotics is a cheap alternative option to mainstream Robotics platforms like VEX and TETRIX and students learn a lot more about engineering design through this approach because the competition or the goal of the robot doedoesn'tange from one year to the next which means students can engage in design-build-test cycles to slowly improve their designs and get better at building and creating more advanced and complex designs.. Also, making a small 3lb robot is much cheaper, and many small public schools like mine can afford these parts.

Students can design their robot components using professional CAD software, such as AutoCAD and Fusion 360, and then instantly prototype these designs using a 3D printer.

This bridges the gap between theoretical design and practical application. With 3D printing, students can quickly iterate on their designs. If a part doesn't work or isn't as expected, they can modify the design in the CAD software and print a new version almost immediately.
