My Project

Chorus is a place where every child should feel free to express themselves. I truly believe that of all the musical disciplines, chorus is the most inclusive since all students need to participate is their own voice. This makes chorus a suitable elective for students with special needs.

While singing may come naturally to some, others who are nonverbal often struggle to feel included.

The instruments I have listed utilize a variety of gross and fine motor skills that will give my special needs students more options for participation in chorus besides just singing. These instruments will help me create more inclusive classroom and performance space for these young musicians, since many of these instruments are commonly used in chorus music.
