This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
To have a personal dressmaker form for each student would be amazing. A dressmaker mannequin is a great tool to help with students to make 'new' or remake 'old' clothing without sewing everything first. However, we can make personal dressmaker forms by using packing tape. So each student can have one that is their own.
Having a dressmaker form, that is personalized out of packing tape, is an easy project that can be helpful for the students to construct and/or reconstruct clothing to fit them personally.
They will be able to accomplish this with just packing tape.
We are in our first year of this program and my students are already talking about next year. This tells me that we need to further their knowledge. THey have come to realize that FACS (Family & Consumer Science - Cooking, Sewing and Inependence) has all their subjects in it - Math, Reading, Science, and History.
