This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a Title I school, which is considered highest poverty, our students are in need of many tools to help them build a stronger educational and active foundation.

Not only are we a Title 1 school with many of our students from low-income backgrounds, we also have a large group of immigrant students who are just learning to adapt to American culture.

We want to provide them with the best opportunity and equipment to succeed at whatever they put their minds to.

My Project

Our basketball team must use sub-standard basketball equipment for practice and warm up drills before games. When we travel to other schools we have old basketballs for warmups, a mesh bag to transport our equipment. We have the same beat up basketballs for practice and team shoot arounds. During our home games we don't have a proper scoreboard to keep track of stats (which can lead to difficulty keeping records for our team). Our goal is to provide out team with everything that a higher income school has access to.

There is not a lot of opportunity at our school for our students to practice and play with the best of equipment.
