My students need books to read during story time, a document camera to visually see enlarged documents, and envelopes when legal documents are sent home.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Can you think of your favorite author? Many of my students do not have one. They aren't exposed to many books due to many factors.
My students are my children.
They are English Language Learners with special needs who attend a fabulous school that provides them with as many resources as possible. There is only so much the school can provide to the students. They are genuine, compassionate, and willful students who put maximum effort with the right resources provided.
My Project
My students will be able to go into another world created by Lois Lowry. I want to be able to instill the power of reading and how an author can capture your interest into reading more books written by them. My goal is for my students to recognize their favorite author and willingly read more books by them. With the document camera, my students with special needs will be able to view pages from a book and interact with them. They will be able to come up and participate in the lesson. My students will learn how technology helps improve the learning environment.
This project will motivate my students and engage them in the lessons.
They will be able to share their writing with the class and make corrections to help understand the editing process. Doing close analytical reads with books using the document camera can help the special needs students visually identify text evidence and structure. The books will capture their interest in reading and identify their favorite author.
