Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember the first time you were able to observe the smallest unit of life, the cell, under the microscope? Well, I want to give the students in my class that opportunity. Give the students in my science classes the experiences that they have never had before!

My students are coming from some of the poorest locations in New York.

They are not given many opportunities to complete activities that are hands on. This is a school that strives for excellence. But the school is very limited to the supplies that are necessary to help them reach the top.

My Project

My students have been disadvantaged by the movers who carelessly handled the microscopes that the school supplied. Over half of the microscopes that were located in the science room were damaged beyond repair. As I managed to salvage the rest of the microscopes, as soon as the students began to use them, I noticed that many were still broken. The lenses inside the microscopes were cracked. Students were unable to manipulate the parts of the microscopes because screws/buttons and or lenses were falling off at the slightest touch. It is now time for the students to get the resources that they deserve. Although I am not able to fully replenish all of the microscopes with this proposal, I decided to start of small. The students will be able to work in pairs and communicate with each other the similarities and the differences they were able to find in their observations. They also will be able to work without having to stop whenever a piece became inoperable.

By donating to this project, you will put a start in the transformation of the students science experiences.

You will help to educate the future doctors, chemists, and forensic scientists. By donating, they will have the experience and the memories of how their scientific experience was magnified by you. It only takes one person to make the change that will affect one students life. Will you be the one to help make the change? Help magnify my students scientific experience! Thank you.
