My students need 1 Big Screen Microscope, an AC adaptor, and 48 prepared slides.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Sams's classroom raised $172
This project is fully funded
I want to make science as fascinating to my students as it is in real life and inspire them to reach for the stars. I teach 23 curious 2nd graders in a high need community. My school is a Title 1 and over 70% of our students are below poverty.
Our county has been very generous in supplying science supplies but unfortunately they are more appropriate for 5th grade students instead of 2nd graders. My students need hands on activities that allow them to explore insects, plants, micro-organisms and just plain old dirt. They don't need another work sheet to complete.
The Big Screen Microscope has a 13" screen and magnifies slides up to 40X. It displays the slides in color and makes what appears invisible come alive to these active minds. It comes with 5 blank slides so they can explore objects in the classroom such as their own dead skin or an onion peel. The AC adaptor will help me keep the microscope plugged in during center time without running out of power. Also, I have requested a 48 piece slide set that will amaze my students when they look at insect and spider parts up close, or plants and vegetables under the microscope. They get to see tiny cells that are invisible to the naked eye. Science will come alive for them and their dream of becoming Dr's and scientists will seem more attainable to them.
Your help will make it possible for my students to develop a love for science that will change their futures.
