Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I remember math being a lot of "drill and kill." Teacher is at the board, working on worksheets and writing facts. I want the opposite for my students. I want them to have hands on learning experiences that will show them how fun math can be, while having fun at the same time!

I teach at an inner city school in Pennsylvania.

Most of my students are English language learners, from low income families. Many of my students don't have games at home to play, they are very excited when I can bring in new materials and games for them to use. My 5th graders are enthusiastic about learning and trying new things, but are quickly discouraged when learning becomes difficult or boring. These supplies will help to ensure that learning math will NEVER be boring again.

My Project

Having these hands-on, interactive math games in my classroom will increase my students interest in Math while helping to develop their areas of weakness. I choose a variety of games so that the needs of all of my students can be met, giving them a variety of skills to build upon. These activities will help my students with not only their math skills but they will also learn teamwork, responsibility and cooperative learning.

The activities and supplies in this project will help my students to become energetic learners.

My students math weaknesses will be strengthened, they will become active participants in all math lesson.
