Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are diverse! They all come from different backgrounds and have different learning styles. They even speak different languages at home. They all are unique and interpret things differently, but my classroom embraces these differences. I work in a Title I school with a large ESOL population, which creates issues for our students and their families to understand and access the curriculum. Despite these issues, these scholars are willing to put in the work! They embrace their differences and it allows them to collaborate and be creative in their learning.
The items requested, will provide my students with opportunities to strengthen their understanding of math concepts taught by using hands on materials.
This project consists of items that students can use in independently and in small groups. Students learn best when learning is hands-on, visual, and authentic. They will be able to use them to help develop their understanding of mathematical concepts and improve their learning experience. By using math manipulatives, I will be able to provide my students with quality and intentional math instruction that will deepen their understanding of math concepts. Together, with dynamic instruction and regular experiences with hands-on learning I can provide students with powerful and enriching learning experiences in mathematics. The use of these items will strengthen mathematics instruction for my diverse learners. These materials will aid in student engagement while helping my little mathematicians improve their math skills, and ability to problem-solve. Moreover, students will develop a confidence and a love for mathematics.
