This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students in Queens, NY are part of a very diverse population including Hispanic, Asian, Middle Eastern, African American and Caribbean. Scholastic Magazines are a terrific source for current events and bringing the world into the classroom.
In our diverse classrooms, these will be used for whole group and small group discussions.
They will be used to build non-fiction reading skills, critical thinking and enriching discussions in the classroom. The magazines will also be used to develop new vocabulary and drive research projects. We greatly look forward for the opportunity to utilize these in the classroom!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
