Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
For science in the 2025-2026 school year, my third through fifth grade Life Skills class will focus on how magnets work, how composting works, and how to collect weather data and use it to practice graphing.
My students learn best when they have hands-on resources and activities so they can investigate and discover how things work either individually or in groups.
They are always excited to do science experiments and see things with their own eyes. The resources I'm hoping for will allow students to see how different items break down with composting. They will have a variety of magnets so they can test how they attract or repel each other. The weather resources will help me align the activities to our standards.
I have also requested books on these topics because my students are just learning how to read. I want them to develop a love for reading and an understanding that while information can come from hands-on activities, it also comes from books. All of our reading and writing activities will center around our science topics to have that reinforcement for their learning.
