My Students

My students are a very diverse group of learners from a low income area. As a result of living in a low income area, many students are disadvantaged when it comes to growth opportunities. Our school provides many opportunities for students to engage in their interests, both academically and socially. Within the science classroom my students thrive when presented with hands on opportunities to learn and grow. They love any special demonstrations or experiments that accompany a lesson and provide excitement.

My Project

My students thrive when presented with hands on learning opportunities that are connected to the real world. In the previous year it was difficult for my classes to grasp the concepts they were being presented with during this unit without safe and practical materials. These kits will help them in applying their knowledge to discover and explore the basic functions of magnets before they move on to building electromagnets and gadgets they would use in the real world. By having an expansive electromagnet kit, my students will be able to build gadgets of their choice based upon their true interests.
