My students are such hard workers. They love learning and are always up for a challenge. However, are still working to catch students up after missed instruction due to Covid. First grade is such a critical age for reading and writing development. I have noticed an increasing large deficit over the past couple of years. Many of my students came to first grade not knowing their letters names and sounds. I have noticed that the more hands-on learning opportunities students can have, the better they respond to instruction and learning new concepts.
Unfortunately, my students do not have hands on word building materials.
Magnetic word building materials will provide hands-on phonics instruction. They will allow my students to manipulate words and sounds while also having fun. Individual sets will allow us to focus on phonics without having to spend so much time sanitizing materials after each use.
