My students are incredible! My students are in kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grade. They are curious, inquisitive, hard-working, and dedicated. All of my students have Individualized Educational Plans because they have been diagnosed with a disability. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch at school. All of my students come from high poverty areas and they all love coming to school. My students are brilliant individuals who learn differently than their peers. These students will be successful and it's my job to create learning opportunities that ensure this.
My Project
When students are forced to stay indoors for recess (for weather related reasons) we do not have many materials to help them release their energy, have fun, and truly enjoy their well-deserved break. I'd love to get my students access to Magnetic Tiles (and a storage container to put them in) to use during this indoor recess time and also during preferred activity time.
Research shows many benefits from block play similar to these magnetic tiles such as promoting problem solving, imagination, self-expression, mathematic principles, continuity and permeance, science, self-esteem, social and emotional growth, and overall development in all areas.
Students are always asking for these magnetic tiles and I'd love to be able to get them to foster creativity, collaboration, and old-fashioned fun! Many of our students do not have access to high quality educational materials like this so I know having the ability to use them at school will greatly benefit being able to create structures with their peers. It will go beyond fostering creativity but will also help foster positive relationships with their peers.
