Magnetic Stories

Help me give my students materials that will improve language and communication. Magnetic story board pieces will help build language and will spark an interest in learning.

My Students

I teach special needs preschool students, many with significant developmental delays. All have communication needs. My students are energetic and playful, and they have a desire to learn. They need added support to learn and make progress on educational goals.

Preschool is a time to explore, learn new environments and learn to interact with peers.

It is also a time to explore different ways to express ideas and to communicate with others. We use many visual aids to assist with communication and learning.

We are an urban school consisting primarily of children from underprivileged families. We have great parent involvement and a supportive PTA, but many parents cannot afford to provide other financial support.

My Project

I am requesting a portable magnetic board and magnetic story board pieces. I usually use felt board and pieces for my reading language area, but with the current pandemic, I need to use materials that can be easily disinfected after each use.

Story boards are a great way to get students to engage and build language skills and communication skills.

Creating stories and discussing them builds creativity and is a fun way to work on language. These magnetic pieces can also be used when doing whole group literacy and other language building activities.
