Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My transitional kindergartners are amazing young learners. Nearly all the students at our school come from low-income households, and many are English language learners. Despite the enormous challenges they face, these students arrive at school each day ready to learn, explore, and grow. They put forth tremendous effort and continually strive to make their families, their teachers, and themselves proud. They deserve access to meaningful, engaging, and hands-on learning tools that support their development and inspire their curiosity.

To foster their creativity and critical thinking, I am requesting magnetic engineering tools and giant pop tubes that will transform our classroom into a hub for STEM exploration.

These materials will allow students to build dinosaurs, rockets, buses, and imaginative landscapes inside clear tubs placed on our light table. With magnetic pieces and tubes that connect, twist, and expand, students will engage in open-ended play that supports early engineering concepts such as structure, stability, and design. Through dramatic play and collaboration, they will learn essential problem-solving and teamwork skills.

These powerful hands-on learning tools allow students to make connections between imagination and real-world concepts. As they construct and explore their prehistoric worlds, students will begin to think like engineers: planning, testing, redesigning, and working together. The tactile nature of the materials also supports fine motor development and language growth, especially for our students who are still developing English skills.

Imagine the excitement and pride these young builders will feel when they realize someone has invested in their potential. Your generosity will provide the tools that make learning fun, meaningful, and memorable. Thank you for helping us create a classroom filled with possibility—where every child has the chance to dream, build, and thrive.
