This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The best and easiest way to describe my students is that they are survivors. My class is a dual language kindergarten classroom, and I am charged with teaching them Spanish, language arts, and math. I will have two classes, each consisting of twenty-one highly motivated and fully charged five-year-olds.
My children and their families have been hit hard by Hurricane Harvey.
Many of my families had to be evacuated and our school sustained a lot of damage. We were teaching at a relocation site with the basics for four months. We cannot ask our parents for any type of supply after what they went through. My kids are happy to be back at their school, but we need some materials to replace what we lost during the hurricane. We hope these items would help my students adjust to yet another move and huge change in their little lives.
My Project
My students need a variety of magnetic resources for my students to manipulate and boards to use the resources on. The Sight-Words Magnets, Magnetic Tub O-Letters, Giant Magnetic Letters, Alphabet Picture Magnets, Alphabet Learning Locks, Giant Activity Dice, Sight-Word Magnets, and Magnetic Activity Board will be used every day during workstations to form words and sentences.
The sight word magnets, tactile letters, activity chest, and sight word puzzles will be used to reinforce instruction.
The file cabinets, storage totes, paper trays with lids, and easy lock storage boxes will be used to house the resources at the workstations. The labels will used to label the bins and to make labels for the activities at the workstation.
Since we moved into our school we do not have control over the temperature in the room so the Hurricane Tower Heater will help my children be more comfortable in class. We also need some Kleenex tissues to get through allergy season.
Having this project funded will help my children be more comfortable and organized in their classroom and, after the year they have had, they deserve it.
