Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
If you met my Pre-k class, you would understand why I want them to have these materials! They are just four, but lead lives that are so compromised. They live in tiny apartments shared with other families, have no toys, no books, and no place to play.
School is their most joyful experience.
Our students come to school with such limited experiences and opportunities, from homes where they are the first to learn English, and for many, the first in their family to go to school.
Life in inner New York City is tough, and the poverty level in my school is 99%.
Understandably, I do everything I can to provide the children with a variety of hands-on, educational materials from which they can learn about the world, learn to get along with others, and take pride in themselves and their accomplishments. In my experience, students who love school become great students.
My Project
For these reasons, I am asking for your help in providing my students with magnetic building tiles, games and puzzles focused on vocabulary building, and an assortment of beads that will enhance their learning of letters, colors, and math patterns.
I am also requesting printer ink, as I know that the childrenâs homework, which calls for their parents' participation, benefits the whole family in learning to read, write, and speak English.
Thank you for your generosity, and I know you will be thrilled that you helped when you see the children's little faces!
When they leave my class, they will speak English, be able to read and write their ABC's, count to 20, and be well on their way to succeeding in life. Thank you for helping to support our littlest learners in their journey to becoming great scholars!
