This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kiddos live in a high poverty area of Houston, Tx. My school is a Title 1 school. Everyday is a struggle for some, more than others. Giving them the opportunity to do hands on science projects lets our tactile learners excel.

A love for science is something that can grow into something wonderful and is rarely forgotten.

My science lab is also a break from everyday bookwork and worksheets. When we do stations, they get so excited because we get to move around the room while learning.

My Project

The Neodymium magnets that I am requesting will go a long way towards station learning for my students. Neodymium magnets are the strongest magnets available.

The best way to learn about magnetism is to hold a magnet and run it over different materials to see if they are attracted to them.

My students love to explore. Using magnets around all types of surfaces in my room is fun and educational. A favorite lesson is to guess how many things one magnet can pick up. The Ferrofluid Display Cells and the demonstrator pack are safe ways for kids to see magnetism at work.

I've learned that my students remember things better when they experience them - hands on. The excitement my students share with each other when they learn something new through tangible means is beyond words. This will also be a boon for my Spanish dominant learners because they excel at learning through hands on experiences.
