My Project
I’m teaching 4th grade this year! That's 34 kiddos! The majority of my students live in areas of high socioeconomic need due to inequitable access to resources. Our needs are beyond the funding given, and I’m asking for help. My students are everything to me. Many of them are English Language Learners - talented bilinguals, and in some cases, trilinguals! My kids are my heart and soul! They are compassionate, driven, and future leaders.
My students love building and inventing with STEM materials in the classroom!
STEM includes skills connected to science, technology, engineering, and math.
STEM bins have become a mainstay in our classroom. Students have a variety of materials to build and create with. These bins are a stress-free and fun way for kids to engage in real-world problem-solving. STEM bins help nurture innovation, curiosity, and problem-solving.
Sometimes we start our mornings with STEM bins, sometimes we use STEM bins as a break, and sometimes our Friday afternoons are STEM bin afternoons!
Magna-Tiles are the most popular STEM bin in our classroom. Since they're so popular, the Magna-Tiles also encourage sharing and teamwork, along with STEM skills. I found some new Magna-Tiles kits that include animals. My students are going to love these! I also found some STEM materials that we don't have yet, such as the connecting straws and gears. I added a couple of storage items so all of our materials can stay safe and organized.
