My Students

The love of learning begins at a very early age! My classroom is full of very active little learners. Our children attend a Title I school that is located in an urban, high-poverty community, where 96% of the students are economically disadvantaged.

The majority of my students are either homeless or come from single-parent homes, which causes them to have limited access to everyday learning materials.

It is hurtful to say that so many of them have been through much more in their short 3-5 years than any of us could ever imagine. Even with that being said, they somehow find a way to come to school every day eager and ready to learn.

My Project

Our classroom is a small group of students with varied support needs. All of them are racially and culturally diverse. One of the things that makes us awesome is we love playing and learning together!

This project will help our students to be creative in creating unique designs, while learning how to problem-solve, identify shapes, learn math concepts, explore science and develop fine motor skills all through play.

Even though we teach early literacy and math throughout our day with play dough, puppets, and blocks why not add magna titles to the mix. Young children learn through play, so these materials will be vital to help with the children virtually learning from home. Many may say digital learning is the way to our future, but hands on, playful learning is much better for young children. But what better way to do that is with academic based toys!
